About EU-IDC
What is it?
“EU Intervarsity Debate Championship” (EU-IDC) is a debate tournament that aims to encourage university students in Indonesia to:
- increase their awareness and knowledge about the EU and its relationship with Indonesia and the wider world
- improve their debating skills.
The EU-IDC 2010 is organised and funded by the Delegation of the EU in Indonesia and implemented by Perfect 10 Public Relations.
Who can apply?
- Students:
- enrolled in an undergraduate programme in universities in Indonesia
- from any fields of studies
- able to debate in English
- Indonesian nationality
- One debate team must comprise 3 debaters (speakers) from the same university
- A university can have more than one debate team
- There will be a maximum of 20 debate teams participating (a total of 60 students)
When/where will it be?
- The EU-IDC tournament will take place on:
- Day 1: Wednesday, 5 May 2010, Usmar Ismail Hall - Jakarta
- Day 2: Thursday, 6 May 2010, Usmar Ismail Hall - Jakarta
- Prior to the tournament, there will be an Orientation Day on Thursday, 1 April 2010 at the Delegation of the European Union in Jakarta. The purpose is to brief debaters about the EU-IDC. Each debate team should propose one of its members to participate.
What are the benefits?
- The winning team will receive a cash prize of:
- 1st place team: A total of IDR 30,000,000
- 2nd place team: A total of IDR 10,000,000
- Trophies from the European Union will be granted to each member of the 1st
and 2nd place team.
- All participants will receive a certificate recognising their participation in the tournament from His Excellency Mr Julian Wilson, Ambassador/ Head of Delegation of the European Union to Indonesia.
How to participate?
- Interested participants can obtain or download the registration form and EU-IDC tournament details from www.perfect10pr.com/eudebate2010/download.htm or by using the on-line registration form
- There is no registration and participation fee.
- Each team must submit an essay on any topic related to the EU (+ 1000 words, in English) along with the registration form no later than Monday, 8 March 2010 at 12:00 noon by e-mail/ fax/ post/ hand delivery to Perfect 10 PR or by using the on-line registration form.
- There will be a maximun of 20 teams selected, based on the best essay.
- Evaluation of the essays will be conducted by the EU Delegation and announcement of the 20 selected teams will be posted on www.perfect10pr.com/eudebate2010/news.htm on Wednesday, 17 March 2010.
